The Base Chakra
The thing is, when you have a Base Chakra imbalance like I have been working with on myself, it’s near impossible to complete things. I may have all these amazing ideas, but when it actually comes to getting stuff done it feels like I’m fighting against myself and the whole universe. So this blog post is just a little late = )
In this post you’ll read how the Base Chakra affects us in a balanced and unbalanced state and how you yourself can work with it at home to bring it back into alignment. I have had quite a few warning signs that mine is really blocked, like severe lower back pain, my inability to complete pretty much anything I say I’m going to, one messy house, feeling attacked, being on the defensive all the time and questioning my place in my tribe just to name a few. I’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks now using the techniques below, but I had an awakening after I had a massage a few days ago that really began its healing.
My lovely therapist nurtured my sacrum and I left there feeling completely unstable in my lower back and hips. (Through no fault of the therapist. She was amazing and was able to begin the process of release of something old stored in there.) It felt like an empty space in that area, like the top and the bottom part of my body wasn’t attached and I was just wobbling around. I didn’t need to feel into that space for long for ‘unsupported’ to come through and I could see how that related to my life.
I implemented changes straight away and every day since then, my lower back has been getting better, slowly shifting back into alignment and I’m feeling less and less pain. Sometimes we need clarity on the WHY of something for us to be able to let it go. Without an understanding we may not be encouraged to make the change needed to stop the imbalance from repeating.
It's all about the Base
The Base chakra is located at the genitals on the front of the body, and the base of the spine, the coccyx or tailbone of the back. The centre of the Chakra is the sexual/genital area. Its colour is Red.
How do I know I have an unbalanced Base Chakra?
An unbalanced Base Chakra
An unbalanced Base chakra leads to loss of direction - focus and discipline, or the complete opposite; having a need for control over everyone and everything in a rigid form while exploding with anger easily and often, a resistant to change. There will be feelings of loneliness, insecurities, lack of confidence, feeling abandoned, indecisive, anxious, worried, paranoid, fearful, procrastination, defensiveness, lack of ability to complete things, survival type issues and needs eg. Lack of money, food and financial independence. Fight or flight reactions, feeling overwhelmed, overly possessive, fearful parent, homeless, feeling stuck, depleting sense of self, can’t move forward and cant release grief, guilt and sadness contributing to not being able to move forward. Feeling like daily tasks are hard work, lazy, problems in your environments, home, work, relationships, community. Feeling like you just don’t fit in anywhere and nobody gets you. Perception of being ‘the black sheep’ of the family. Dislike of the colour red.
A balanced Base Chakra
When you have a healthy balanced Base Chakra you feel, secure, safe, confident that you can easily fulfil your needs, feeling at home in situations, feeling grounded, secure, fearless, present in the moment, connected to your physical body. Feeling like you can be an individual AND part of the tribe, (family, community, workplace) being able to manifesting what you need, stable in your foundation. A balanced Base Chakra stimulates action, encourages exploration to find your life's purpose and achieve success, heightened endurance and motivation, heightened instincts, a connection to the earth, feeling grounded, influences our basic impulses so we are no longer reacting in fight or flight allowing us to make better choices, regenerating confidence and your will to move forward in life
Our bodies give us signals in the form of pain, problems in function or dis-ease. Some issues associated with the Base Chakra are lower-back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, constipation, diarrhoea, rectal/anal problems, impotence, water retention, and problems with groin, hips, legs, knees, calves, ankles, and feet.
How can I balance and heal my Base Chakra?
I hope you found this helpful. I'll be posting about the Sacral Chakra soon.....now that my Base Chakra is on the mend and I can get stuff done hahaha.
